SUMMER BRIDGES </BR> COUNSELING INTERN

Summer Bridges

Counseling Intern

I am training to be a limited license psychologist (LLP) through WMU’s Counseling Psychology program, and am currently an intern at Brain Body Therapy Group. While I am still learning and refining my practice, I primarily use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I also implement a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I want to primarily work with adolescents and young adults, those who struggle with emotional regulation skills, neurodivergent folks, people with PTSD, depression, and anxiety.

I approach therapy with a neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ friendly lens that is not about changing the individual and who they are, but rather giving them problem-solving skills, coping mechanisms, and helping them better understand their emotions to live in a world that often is not built for marginalized groups of people. I am an empathetic person who strives to approach therapy from the client’s point of view and equip them with skills to deal with the struggles they face in daily life.
