Carly Jacobs
Counseling Intern
I am a counseling intern in my final year of graduate study at Western Michigan University, where I am earning a master’s degree in Counselor Education with a concentration in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling.
I work with individuals, couples, and families, and I approach therapy through a relational and systemic lens. I believe in the importance of honoring the many intersecting identities, cultural backgrounds, and lived experiences that shape how people move through the world and relate to others. I also believe that therapy can be a powerful space for self-discovery, healing, and growth, and that meaningful change begins with feeling seen, valued, and supported.
My approach integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Family Systems Theory. I strive to create an affirming, nonjudgmental space where clients of all identities and relationship structures can explore what is most important to them. My style is warm, collaborative, and gently curious, and I walk alongside clients to uncover patterns, strengthen relationships, and build skills for navigating life’s challenges.
I have experience and interest in supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, neurodivergence, body image concerns, and identity development. I also work with people moving through life transitions such as leaving home, early adulthood, becoming a parent, caregiving for aging family members, or experiencing shifts in relationships. I am especially passionate about supporting couples and partners working to rebuild trust, improve communication, and deepen emotional and physical intimacy.
No matter what brings you to therapy, I am committed to creating a space where you can be your full self, explore your story, and move toward the life and relationships you want. I will explore all of this with you with care, curiosity, and compassion.
